(More customer reviews)This doll is fantastic for VERY YOUNG children. I bought this for my twins who are just turning one. They are in love with their older sister's baby dolls, which they really shouldn't be playing with due to choking hazards. This doll is appropriately sized for a very small child, with embroidered eyes, mouth, etc. It is a stuffed doll, so no problem if your child sucks on it. Very soft, so nice for giving hugs. The small bottle and teddy bear are large enough that they do not pose choking hazards. Yes, the doll is hard for a child to dress, but the kids I think it is most appropriate for are not yet old enough to rip clothes off and dress it. The bed is also soft fabric, another bonus for the very young kid. I didn't know what to expect when I placed my order and was VERY pleased with the result. Perfect 1st birthday gift. Don't even THINK of giving this to an older (say 2 year old) child.

(More customer reviews)I just received the Corolle Bebe Charmeur doll today, and it is such a beautiful doll, the high quality makes such a difference. The way her eyes open and close is gentle not clunky, she has an open mouth (for thumb, paci and bottle) that is natural looking, not a crude hole. Overall she is so much more realistic looking than a cheaper doll. Her body is soft but not too empty, she has a bit of beans in the butt. She's bald with a bit of molded hair in the front.
I thought 14" sounded a little small, but it is not, the doll is a great size.
My daughter wanted a doll that had a bottle and a paci. I wanted a nice looking doll that didn't take batteries and make creepy sounds etc. I'm really happy with this doll, she is just so beautiful and charming!

Best Pals Lily Original 16" Rag Doll Review

(More customer reviews)I rec'd this doll in a strange plastic bag w/o any sort of box. There was not any kind of company brand-name paperwork inside the weird bag. This doll was described as "New" w/o any explanation of this kind of packaging, in the advertisement of the doll. It made me think it was counterfeit or a black market version. I wrote Amazon a while ago (2-3 weeks) about this and have not heard any response back. Uncomfortable about giving it to my granddaughter, if it is a knock-off doll then the materials that the doll is made of - are probably not safe for children?! Who knows? Is this how Amazon does business?? VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS SELLER AND PURCHASE. :>(

I also like that this line of dolls has come out with other clothes for the dolls - that's nice because I can wash one outfit and the baby still has clothes on. This is definitely a great starter doll - there are no moving parts = no choking hazards.

It's soft enough for even a very young baby, but it's large enough and with a realistic enough face to keep my older daughter interested. This dolly is white, but you can throw her in the machine with a little oxyclean and she comes out perfect every time. I LOVE having her outfit permanently attached as it solves the "naked baby problem" we seem to have with every other doll. After almost three years, this doll is going strong and has converted me to the Corolle brand for detail, quality workmanship, and fun.

Corolle Special Feature Baby Doll Lila - 17" Doll Review

(More customer reviews)As a disclaimer, I have little experience with baby dolls so I can't really compare Lila to dolls from other brands. That said, Lila is fantastic! She is a 17" doll and so approximates the size of a small newborn. She is pretty light for a little Mommy to carry though (a pound or two?). She is interactive in four ways--laughing when tickled on her tummy, babbling baby talk when her hand is squeezed, crying when placed on her tummy (but stops on her own after about 10 seconds), and making sucking noises when her bottle is placed in her mouth. The sounds are so sweet, not loud or annoying. My daughter takes this doll to bed with her and when I check on her after she's asleep, I just flip the switch on her back to turn her off so that Lila doesn't wake her up in the middle of the night or during naps. The doll is obviously adorable, as the pictures show. Lila was a 2nd birthday gift for my daughter and she took to her immediately. She has played with it every day since receiving it more than a month ago. The doll sits well in a high chair (Kidkraft, see my review if interested) for feeding. The only downside that I've found is that she can't go in the bath.
At our house, we have three Corolle babies. The brand (French in origin) came highly recommended by a friend. I purchased the Calin doll for my daughter's first Christmas (she was 15 months), and I later got baby Paul (anatomically correct boy doll) to help my older son with potty training. I do think Calin could be a good first doll but my daughter has just never taken to her. She is a much smaller doll at 12 inches and has no interactive features. I'm sure it's one of those things where all kids are different but for my daughter, the interactive features and realistic size make Lila a favorite.
Oh, and this doll won an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award in 2005. A lot of the Corolle dolls got high marks there and I definitely agree. Corolle dolls smell heavenly (vanilla? sugar cookie?) and you can find oodles of coordinating accessories and clothes for them. If my daughter were older, I might just buy the baby preemie clothes for her since they're frustratingly cheaper but she really needs the ease of velcro to change Lila for now. (For anyone interested, she also fits perfectly in the Badger Basket Toys Doll Crib with Cabinet that Amazon also sells.)

Cabbage Patch Kids 'Surprise Newborn'-Assorted Review

(More customer reviews)I still have my cabbage patch kid from when I was little, it is almost as big as my daughter and it is not easy for her to play with, she has a hard time moving it around. My daughter (16 months old) got this newborn for Christmas, and oh my she barely puts it down. Its the perfect size for her to carry around, pretend to feed, and gives it hugs and kisses, its so cute. The doll comes with a baby bottle, the cute cabbage leaf swaddler and then a little onesie that is either pink or blue and the diaper is either pink or blue depends on if the doll is a boy or girl, also the birth certificate, we ended up with a little boy, but since its a baby doll we are pretending its a girl. She is too little to enjoy the "surprise" factor. So I have purchased some generic clothes for the doll from target and also am making some clothes for it. She enjoys the doll having different clothes, and it can get ready for bed or get dressed for the day just like her.
Now for durability I didn't give it full marks because some of the thread holding the dolls shape has come out, easy fix, but its not holding up to the abuse of a toddler, she also dropped the doll out of her wagon and its scuffed its nose on the pavement. (we usually keep her toys tethered to the belt strap so she can't get excited and throw her toys, and we learned our lesson by not doing so for the doll) The body is also fabric, so the velcro of the outfits that my daughter likes to undue and try to fasten back is catching on the doll's back and is balling up the fabric. The tread is easy to fix, the balling easy to clean up, the nose she will just have to live with a scratched nose. Over all I recommend this product, its great fun. My daughter loves it so much.

(More customer reviews)I bought this baby doll for my daughter (2yr) last Christmas, and she still plays with it everyday. That baby goes every where with us. She takes care of it just like it was a real baby. The very nice thing is the voice box comes out, so once you cant take the baby making noise anymore it is easy to resolve.
I know that it says surface wash only, but I had to put it in the washing machine because of a juice spill. I put it in the "hand wash/delicate" cycle and the did the air dry and it was a good as new.
I would recommend this doll to anyone.
