The doll is well-constructed and the ballerina costume is beautiful. Movable arms, legs and eyes make for good imaginative play, and the hair can also be re-styled. This doll will be well loved and cared for!

(More customer reviews)I just love this doll! (Actually, I have loved all of the Corolle dolls we've bought!) My daughter is only 19 months but loves this doll. The hair is such good quality, easy to style and take care of, her face is so sweet, and the size is perfect for a little girl! I generally keep the hair in a ponytail to control it better as my daughter is a little young, but pull it down when she wants to brush her hair. It is holding up so well to the abuse a girl this age can dish out! In fact, it's holding up perfectly! I am so impressed with the quality of Corolle that I have gotten rid of other dolls (especially the ones with hair) that we've had. Also, the clothing is extremely well made! Other dolls we have from Corolle: Bebe Do (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE#, Calin (her first doll), Miss Corolle--Red Head #so they can be friends#, Beedibies #2 of them, a modern day kewpie and so fun!#, and 3 Les Dollies #for a future Christmas or birthday.) I can't speak more highly of these dolls! I know if I'm buying a Corolle, the quality is going to be outstanding.

Corolle Les Cheries Doll Cécile - 13" Doll Review

(More customer reviews)I LOVE Cecile! She is a gorgeous black doll, with beutiful brown skin and natural black hair styled in lovely ringlets all around her head. I found Cecile after searching for several months for a doll that would reinforce my young daughter's love of her identity. We have always taught her that everything about her was beautiful-right down to the tips of her naturally kinky/curly hair. Most of the other black dolls on the market were either to grown up for her (i.e., Barbie, Bratz) or they all had very straight hair(which is not something I want my daughter eventually trying to or feeling as if she has to emulate). Corolle hit the mark right on with Cecile and, shortly before Christmas, I found her for a stellar price right here on Amazon!
Cecile was a hit on Christmas morning! She came dressed in the lovely ensemble you see on this page and smelled wonderfully of vanilla. (My daughter is a budding fashion lover, so I know we will soon be buying a few of the other clothing items avilable for the Les Cheries dolls from Corolle and other retailers for Cecile pretty soon). My daughter has played with Cecile almost nonstop since Christmas! She takes her everywhere we go and talks to and interacts with her all day. She changes Cecile's clothes every evening for bed (we made her a bed with pillows and a basket)and dresses her every morning. At my daughter's truly concerned request, we even bought her a toy car seat so that she will stay buckled up during car trips! I also love the fact that my daughter constantly comments on how BROWN and PRETTY Cecile is.
My ONLY complaint is that the Cecile's hair has been very difficult to maintain. Unlike the other Les Cheries dolls, Cecile's hair does not seem to be made for styling. It has not been possible to comb her hair and have it return to it's original pretty curl. In fact, her hair is so unmanageable, it has begun to mat and frizz just from regular handling. We have not tried to comb it again since the initial attempt, so there seems to be no good reason for it to behave this away except for a bad choice of hair fiber or something to that effect. I have not been able to contact anyone at Corolle to find out if they will repair it. So, I think I will eventually have to buy another Cecile in order to have a fresh head of hair.
Overall, Cecile has been a delight. She is a lovely and modestly dressed doll, made just for sparking a young girl's imagination and instilling a feeling of pride (for black girls) in having a doll that looks just like her!

Les Chéries ' Cécile loves fashion, just like the young girls of today she is designed and dressed to resemble. She has an all-vinyl body, moving eyes and curly dark, rooted hair that can be combed and styled, even shampooed!

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my daughter's fifth birthday. I had been looking for a doll that is not a baby doll, but represents her age approximately, but did not want to spend the money on an American Doll or similar. This fit perfectly. The doll has a normal healthy-looking body and is great for pretend-play unlike dolls like Barbie or Bratz, which seem to sell a "type" (ditzy lady or bratty teenager respectively).
She has beautiful thick hair that can be styled with regular sized accessories, so my daughter puts her own clips and ponytail holders on her, as well as stretchy hairbands, which we fold twice. This is a big deal as i really hate to keep track of teeny-tiny doll accessories.
I've also sewn some clothes for the doll upon my daughter's request and we had lots of fun picking out fabrics and styles and she even helped with some of the sewing.
The doll is fantastically priced for what you get in terms of quality and looks. I have to admit it's also very realistic for little girls who are not yet old enough to understand the word "expensive" and so i don't have to worry too much if some major damage should happen to the doll. Little brothers, anyone?
All in all my daughter loves to play with it and i'm sure she will get good use out of it for several years.
