I received this and was really suprised how much bigger and nicer it is. In fact I bought this for my daughters friends birthday and she loved it so I decided to buy 3 more for all my daughters for Christmas. You do have to use a little bit of glue to get the magnets to stay on but other then that this seemed like a really good toy.

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my 6yr old for Christmas...it wasn't the Musician and Artist theme but I think the Dancer theme by same company. Great use of the imagination and travels well. We are a military family and we do a lot of traveling in the car. This item comes with us everywhere. A quiet toy that can be played anywhere. My daughter doesn't really play with it when we are home she seems to only use it when we travel or if she has to sit for long periods of time (doctors and various other appointments that my kids are dragged to).

(More customer reviews)This is a promising toy with a simple design - a two-page fold-out magnetized diorama with magnetic cut-out paper princess dolls and various accessories (fans, flowers, jewelry, tiaras, etc.) The big problem is that the magnets are not strong enough -- they stick to the background, but just barely. We bougt this for road trips, and were disappointed to find how easily pieces slid off the pages and were lost. Also, the pieces have large borders, so it is more difficult to create the illusion of reality than it should be. My kid plays with this from time to time, but it's hardly her favorite toy.

(More customer reviews)Melissa & Doug's magnetic wooden answers to traditional paper dolls are great for young children. Their durability is out of this world -- and they include a partitioned wooden case to keep track of all the little pieces when playtime is through. The ballerina is no exception.
I find that some of the skirt shapes (particularly those which show part of the doll's legs as part of the clothing piece) are too chunkily executed for my taste, and some of the garments (especially the vests!) are tacky beyond all reckoning, but I've yet to meet a little girl who complained about either. That's just my grownup sensibilities talking.
If you're buying for a little ballerina-lover, this is the toy for you. If not, look around a little bit at Melissa and Doug's many other wooden "paper" dolls. You might find something even better.

(More customer reviews)If your little one isn't quite ready for paper dolls or fashion dolls, magnetic dolls like this one can be a lot of fun. I have fun playing with my daughter with this doll. She has several mix & match options (shirts, skirts, pants, dresses, shoes). She also comes with a stand.
The pieces are easy for my three year old to hold. She also enjoys sorting the pieces, matching the shoes, etc. It is very easy for her to dress the doll (unlike a Barbie, for example) and once dressed, she plays with the doll.
The set also stores all of the pieces with a durable clear plastic lid. You can store it on-end, like a book, and not worry about losing the pieces or the set opening.
There are other skin tone available for this doll. The clothes are slightly different but the poses are the same so you can interchange the pieces. I think my daughter's getting another of these dolls very soon.

Melissa & Doug Sticker Collection - Fashion Review

(More customer reviews)My six year old daughter got this for Christmas. She loves clothes and fashion and stickers so this toy was met with high hopes. She and I played with it and I have to say, although I like it, it could be better. The stickers come with a "be careful" warning and I would say heed that advice. If your child is not careful pulling these off, they will rip and the outfits will be "ruined". I like that there is so much to choose from, but my daughter would have liked the set more if there were enough dolls to wear ALL the clothes. On each page there are more clothes than dolls so a few clothes need to go unworn...a difficult decision for my six year old and one that leaves her feeling unsatisfied. They are stickers so they STICK. You cannot pull them off and change outfits like paper dolls or Colorform style stickers. So, the unused "clothes" are kind of a waste. You could pull the clothes off and stick them on a sheet of paper and draw a head and limbs on them, and maybe my daughter will eventually do just that. But for immediate gratification it would have been nice to have a sense of completion...all the outfits being stuck onto all the dolls. I can already foresee me hanging on to a partially full book of stickers because they cannot be put on a doll but my daughter won't want to throw it away either. It's a good toy but with a few more "dolls" it would have been better.

It's hard to keep track of all the little pieces but we have only lost 1 tiara in 2 planes, 2 cars, 2 houses so I do not feel too bad.

I don't know who the illustrator is but the dolls and clothes are so stinken cute. The magnets actually hold but are not too strong for little hands; so the clothes are easy to put on and take off. I am looking forward to many hours of fun with my granddaughter and this toy. Great value!!!

(More customer reviews)I would like to get my 5 year old paper dolls but with a two year old sister and one year old brother it just does not seem a good idea. These are wonderful. Both of my girls fight over this one and have to take turns between the ballerina (seperate item) and the princess. I think they like the crowns and dresses in this one though the ballerina gets a lot of wear too! If having trouble getting them to attach, check to see if you need to clean the back, being careful not to get the front wet.

(More customer reviews)Now, if you're going to create a cool toy like this, why wouldn't you provide a lid on the box so people can store it properly?
My 2-year-old daughter loves this set-- so much that I bought another one, too. The dolls are colorful and fun for her, and she pulls this out to play with it almost every day.
The lack of a lid is a real problem, because the pieces are all over my house since there is no good way to store it, and the small pieces are a secondary problem. My daughter doesn't stick them in her mouth, so I'm not very concerned about choking, but it's just very easy to lose the little pieces.
I see no reason why this couldn't have been designed with two shoes on one longer block, for example, or with shoes sticking out from under the skirt, so there wouldn't be so many little pieces. Especially because then the company could remove the warning that it's not for kids under 3, when it's clear from the reviewers here that 2-year-olds are using these dolls plenty.
